Indian High Commission Denounces Khalistani Attack on Canadian Hindu Temple, PM Trudeau Responds

The Indian High Commission in Canada harshly denounced the incident after a pro-Khalistani mob attacked Hindu-Canadian devotees Sunday near the Hindu Sabha temple in Brampton, calling it “deeply disappointing” that such disruptions were permitted for regular consular work conducted by the Indian Consulates.

The Indian Mission in Canada claimed in a statement that similar camps were also attempted to be disrupted on November 2 and 3 in Surrey and Vancouver. Videos of the Brampton incident on Sunday, which shows a mob beating Hindu devotees outside the temple with sticks and rods, are extensively circulated online. Flags belonging to pro-Khalistani organisations are also visible being carried by a number of the mob members.

“For the convenience and advantage of local life certificate recipients (Canadian and Indian), the Consulates General of India in Vancouver and Toronto, as well as the High Commission of India in Ottawa, have planned or organised consular camps during this time, just like in other years. The statement stated that the Canadian authorities had been asked to arrange robust security measures for these events, which are part of regular consular operations, well in advance due to the current security situation in Canada.
